| Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between DVD replication
and DVD duplication?
Duplication involves 'burning' your content onto a premanufactured
DVD, they are duplicated individually so orders of any
size can be fulfilled. Replication involves creating
a 'glass master' from a premastered image. A 'stamper'
is made from this, and used to press DVD's with injection
moulding. When discussing details, we will help you
decide which process of best suited to your project.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Our usual terms of business is payment with order –
we don’t accept credit/debit cards, as the banks
make additional charges that we would have to pass on
to you. We accept cheques, postal orders, cash or bank
transfers.
How long will it take for you to produce our
DVDs?
This depends on the size of your order – and how
much work is involved. A straight duplication order
of 250 DVD-Rs will normally be turned around in 48 hours.
Printed inserts can take longer, depending on our printer’s
workload.
We can give you a timescale estimate for a particular
job – let us know the details and we will give
you an estimated timescale. If you have a particular
deadline for a job, let us know and we will do our utmost
to meet it.
Do you make business card DVD's?
We can produce DVDs and CDs in a variety of shapes and
sizes – our 8cm range is very popular. We can
also supply Business Card CDs/DVDs in varying sizes.
Please let us know your requirements, and we will do
our best to meet your needs.
We don’t have a DVD master – can
you help?
We can author your DVD for you, but we have to charge
for this. The amount depends on the duration of your
DVD, and the complexity of it’s structure. The
simplest (and cheapest) is a straight auto-run DVD.
We can also make looped DVDs (where the DVD automatically
starts playing again at the beginning – or any
pre-determined point – when it reaches the end
of the programme), and menu’d DVDs with chapter
points and/or more than one programme. It may be easiest
to discuss your needs with us, and we can come up with
an effective solution for you DVD and budget.
Can you distribute the completed DVD's to an
address list we provide?
Yes – we undertake a complete fulfillment service
– we can also include any other material with
the DVDs/CDs that you want sent top your customers.
We can also include your details on the outer packaging,
for any non-delivery returns.
Can you transfer from video tape to DVD?
Yes we do – we can transfer from VHS, miniDV,
DVCam, DigiBeta, BetaSP, Umatic, Hi-8 and 8. If you
have another format, we may still be able to help –
please give us a call. We can also transfer from Cine
film.
What are Unders and Overs, and do you do this?
Some of our competitors work with Unders and Overs –
this is where they might send upto 5% more or less than
what you’ve ordered. We don’t – we
send you what you’ve ordered – we realise
that if you ordered 1000 DVDs, you want 1000, not 950,
nor do you want to be sent 1050, and charged for the
extras!.
Are there different types/standards of DVD disc
we can choose from?
For DVD duplication, our normal disc is a DVD-R. This
is the most widely used format. If you want a DVD+R,
please let us know when you ask for a quote. If you
want an 8cm DVD, we can also provide this.
For DVD replication, we can offer DVD-5 or DVD-9. Please
let us know your requirements, and we’ll provide
you with a competitive quote for it
Do you region code the discs? If you don't,
can you?
The region code is set during the authoring of the DVD
– we cannot change the region coding of your master.
If we author the DVD we set the region code to ‘0’,
which means it will play in all regions.
Do I get a proof to approve before you begin
DVD replication/duplication?
If you want a proof of your face print, please let us
know at the time of ordering, and we will email you
a pdf proof at no extra cost. If we are authoring your
DVD, we can send you an approval copy prior to replication
or duplication. However, there may be an extra charge
of £10 for this, depending on the size of the
order. Please note that providing a proof or approval
copy will extend the turn-round time of the order, as
we will need to hold the job until we have your approval.
Can you provide custom tray packaging for
our DVD's? How much design flexibility do we have?
Yes, we can provide custom printed solutions to your
packaging needs, including trays or spiders mounted
on card brochures etc. We can also provide custom printed
slip cases to hold the DVD or CD, or for that special
job, to hold a DVD case. Or, if you already have a brochure,
we can supply a variety of mounts for you to use to
hold DVDs or CDs on your printed material. You can supply
the artwork, or we can create it for you. Let us know
your requirements, and we will do our utmost to fill
them.
